Then & Now

(After I made this I showed this to husband and he said it looked like I died. Friends, I have not died.)

I love looking back to old blog post to see how much I have or haven't changed. Today we're looking back to 2008 (23 year old me) and seeing if there is any difference. Shall we?

2008 23 year old Stela: I was in my final year of college and I was doing Stelabird full time.
2012 27 year old Stela: I own a gift & accessories boutique, The Felt Bird. Going on 3 years!

Now we're going to look at Random Facts from 2008!

2008: "I'm scared of everything. Well, that may be extreme. But I do have a lot of fears."
2012: Yea...I'm still scared of a lot of things. For being a Sagittarius you would think I was super adventurous. Noooo, I think about all the bad things that could happen and I don't do anything that's risky. Well, physically risky that is.

2008: "I'm a nail biter. Usually when I'm nervous or bored"
2012: I'm still a nail biter! Mostly when I'm anxious.

2008: "I can not stop saying "meow". I say it quite often for no reason."
2012: Ha! I've stopped saying that. Geesh.

2008:  "I love to laugh, but who doesn't?"
2012: Wow, 2008 me really sucked at coming up with some random facts! Good thing I grew out of that, right?! Please say yes. But, anyways, yes I still love to laugh. Gah, seriously, what the hell was that?

2008: "Fall is my favorite season"
2012: It sure is!!!

2008: "I'm always cold. Cardigans are my best friend."
2012: Yes! I'm always cold and cardigans are still my bff. I'm also a huge fan of blankets. They are also my bff.

2008: "I wear color contacts. Currently Blue. I get tired with my look and I don't dye my hair, so I change my eye color. I've had green, hazel and violet."
2012: Oh man, I forgot about that! Yea, no more colorful eyeballs for me. I also still don't dye my hair. I'm cool with my dark brown hair and brown eyes now.

2008: "I'm indecisive. I've changed my major from interior design to apparel design to apparel merchandising"
2012: I'm still indecisive and I actually just used that one in a recent Random Facts post. Oops! But look at my indecisiveness paying off! I went from interior design to apparel merchandising and if I didn't change my major I may not have a shop right now. Who knows! Wooo go indecisiveness!!

2008: "I'm allergic to bananas. Which is a damn shame because they are soooo yummy."
2012: We've cracked the code on this one guys!! I can eat ORGANIC bananas! I also had an oral allergy to avocados and when I bought organic nothing happened!! I've been eating organic bananas and avocados like crazy without any issues. Magic.

And there we have it friends! I haven't changed too much in these past 4 years.
Here's something that changed:
2008 Stela didn't think she'd be able to have a dog because her and future husband were allergic.
2009 Stela found a loophole! They discovered there were dogs out there that were good for sad allergy people!
2012 Stela & Husband are living happily ever after with their 3 year old schnoodle!

Yay changes!

Have you changed any from 2008 you?
Do tell!

Have an amazing Wednesday!
♥

  1. I loved reading this! You look like you haven't aged at all, and you have such gorgeous brown eyes--why would you want to change them? I'm also indecisive and there's not a daredevil bone in my body when it comes to physical risks either. I'm not sure if I've changed that much, but I think 2008 me was probably cooler. ;)

    1. Thanks my lady! I think I felt plain and boring with brown hair and brown eyes when I was younger but I'm over that now.
I (obviously) haven't met 2008 Mary but 2012 Mary is pretty awesome!

  2. What fun to look back on 2008 you :)
My life has changed quite a bit since 2008. I went from working in a factory to being self-employed!!!
And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's scared of a lot of things...LOL :) And I quit biting my nails at 23...there's still hope for you :)

    1. I'm happy I got to read your announcement that you were quitting your job to be self-employed!! It's so cool to be reading blogs during monumental points in their lives.
I better grow out of my nail biting! haha!

  3. I LOVED this! Seriously, I get such a kick out of going back and looking at my little random facts or questionnaires I filled out when I was younger. Funny how quickly people change in certain aspects.

    1. Haha! Seriously! He's such a punk. I didn't want to change it, I was feeling lazy and didn't want to think about how to make it less deathy.

  6. You seriously look the same! I know four years isn't that long ago but wow! This was a fun post to read. All I can remember off the top of my head was in 2008 I was living in another town and I just lost my job. I'm in a better place now. :)

  8. Cool post!

I think it's great that you've found a way around your allergies.

I would have to think long and hard about what I was like in 2008, not a year that's stuck in my memory....I have started selling on Etsy since then though.

So I've started a new business.

  9. Isn't it weird to look back on your younger self? I still look at myself in the mirror sometimes and see my "lady face" developing and it's such a shock!

  10. Ha! What a delightful space you have here. My 2008, 17-year-old self, was focused on passing junior year of high school, getting this senior boy to fall in love with me and fighting my parents just for the heck of it. Funny how your priorities and issues change with the phases of your life. As a senior in college, I can say I am thankful I grew up (some).

    xoxo, hm

  11. 4 years ago I was going off to graduate to school to complete my master's in physics. 4yrs later..I'm going back to graduate school to complete masters in physics. I left in 2010 and took a 2yr break to "find" myself. Lessons I've learned? I want to own my own company and be my own boss lady. I'm finishing my masters just so I can say I've completed and not leave it open ended. Amazing what happens in 4yrs!

  12. I love to look back at old pictures and read old diary entries because it's so fun to see who much I, or my surroundings have changed.

  13. Oh man, 2008 feels like a century ago! 2008 Paige still thought she was going to be in radio for the rest of her life. HA! Now I'm self-employed AND back in school for something else (interior design, actually, I didn't know you originally did that!).
