The other day I came across a bag full of earrings that I wore 9 years ago.
They were all beaded and dangly; a style I no longer wear. I knew I would
never wear them again but I didn't want to trash them so I decided to
turn them into something I do wear often. Necklaces!
For today's Make It I'm going to show you how to attach an old earring to a chain to make a repurposed necklace.
Let's get started!
You will need:
chain
jump ring
an old earring
pliers
some earring pieces I dissembled
1. Open your jump ring and put your earring piece through.
*When opening your jump ring twist it open with your pliers. Twist them
where one will go toward you and the other one goes away from you.
2. Put your chain in the jump ring too.
3. Time to close your jump ring! Use both of your pliers to grip the
jump ring and twist it shut.
That's it! Now you have a new necklace from an old piece of jewelry!
It's that easy.
Hope you enjoyed this mini DIY!
Happy Making!

Cute idea! I am an earring loser so it would work for my singles too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! And thanks for the tip on the jump rings...I'd been opening them the wide way instead of twisting them!

Gorgeous! I would definitely wear this more as a necklace than earrings, great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and so simple!
ReplyDeletePerfect timing! I just completely destroyed one of my earrings this morning when my brush caught it and I didn't want to throw away the matching one so here we go, I'll make it a necklace!! :)
ReplyDeleteI need to repurpose some jewelry. I have earrings I never wear anymore but would probably make a good necklace. Love yours. :)
ReplyDeleteI've done this, too! Isn't it hilarious to go back through your jewelry and see what you thought was "cool" as a teenager? My how things have changed, ha ha.
