staying indoors

I hate to sound like a cry baby, but I'm totally going to sound like a cry baby.
It's hot. Death hot. I'm soooo over summer here in Oklahoma. When it's over triple digits for consecutive weeks I just have to throw in the towel and quit the outdoors. My solution? Stay indoors. Cuddle under a blanket, read a book, watch movies, do internet stuffs.
I've lived in Oklahoma my whole life and I'm still not use to this. Also, this new trend of triple digits for weeks on end just started a few years ago. Blah.
Please make me jealous and tell me you are having beautiful summer weather.
And please let me come visit you.
How's the weather in your neck of the woods?
Wow, listen to me being an old man asking about the weather and saying neck of the woods
Get off my lawn!

  2. June and July tend to sit in the high 90s here, but August gets worse. Add in the humidity (I'm talking 80-90%), and it makes me never want to step outside my house again.

  3. We should swap places - just imagine...I'm wearing a cardigan right now ;-)
I like hot weather when it is not humid!

  4. Girl, it's triple digits too here in Georgia. I love the summer but it has been quite unbearable. We too have stayed indoors and only go out for little bits. Tonight was the night we choose to go out for our anniversary and left the kids at cousins that have a pool.
The worst part is that we have had to Internet or cable due to a bad thunderstorm for a week. They won't be here for another two days. Imagine that ! Haven't been able to blog myself.. Booooo.
    Stay cool!

  6. I'm exactly the same. I grew up in the south and I never got used to the heat either. Really it's the humidity that kills me. It literally feels like a wet blanket smothering you as soon as you walk out the door. The humidity also makes it an air quality issue whenever we get into triple digits, so it's actually unhealthy for anyone with asthma or other upper respiratory issues to be outside, and it's probably not all that great for the rest of the population either. I can't wait for fall.

  7. YIKES! That sounds horrible! I'm living in Namibia, Africa, so the weather here is beautiful because it's actually winter! Like 50's in the morning and night and like 75 in the day. Summer will be sooooo not fun though ;)

  8. I wish we had it here... Okay, maybe not 100F but 86 or whatever is warmer.
Summer seems to have disappeared from Sweden this year. We've had warm days now and then, but it's as if the earth isn't properly warmed up anyway and the sea is very cold. The night I went to the airport to go to Italy (for much needed warmth and more!) it rained the entire time and was only 48F outside. It's been as cold as 40F. And this is summer?? Just a couple of days every few weeks to be able to sit outside and not freeze. :'( Hopefully August will be better but still, we've lost the entire thing with early summer flowers, late summer evenings outdoors... Don't know how to cope with 6 months of winter after this.

  9. Iowa usually isn't this hot, but we've had several weeks of 100+ as well. This week was much better...and we finally got some rain!!!
You're welcome to come visit anytime :) And you can trample my lawn...LOL :)

  10. I remember hot summers like that when we lived in Texas! We are having unusually warm weather here in Michigan, and are in desperate need of rain. It's not as hot as you're experiencing, but some days are so humid and I enjoy staying inside as well... Working in my studio with the air conditioner on!

  11. 111? YUK!!!! It's supposed to be rainy here all week, which I'll take over the heat! I'm with you, I HATE being trapped indoors, but how can you face heat like that?

  12. At least it's a dry heat, right? Focus on the desert! We had temps of 100-105 for several weeks here AND a lot of humidity. Booo... It's only in the 90s right now! Practically winter.

    1. Yes! That is the only good thing. I would rather sit in an oven then sit in an oven with a wet blanket.

  14. Unfortunately I'm having similar weather. Except with crazy humidity. Sometimes I can't believe how hot it is. Leaving the office for lunch time is dreadful.

  17. Wow. That's intense. It's actually pretty hot here in Chicago, but 90 hot and I love it. Summer is by far my favorite season but I couldn't handle 110.

  18. Yikes! I couldn't deal with that either. We haven't had any triple digits in NY but the humidity is what makes it unbearable and just nasty.

  20. We haven't had triple digits here too much, but it has still been much hotter than normal. Miserable! You're right that the best thing is to stay indoors and avoid the worst of it. I hope that it cools down a little soon.

  21. I don't know what that converts to in Centigrade, but it sounds waaay too hot for me :(
Here in the UK we had a couple of weeks of 'heatwave' (aka about 25C) but now it's back to rain & thunderstorms haha x

  23. I'm not so bothered by the heat here in Vermont.. I'm worried about WINTER! I spent the last 7 years in San Diego, so it's going to be quite a change. I grew up in Canada, so I know EXACTLY what we are in for.. Snow.. Sleet.. Getting slapped in the face by ice gold wind gusts.. I'm terrified, honestly. Snow and I do not get along. The only cool factor is that this is the perfect reason/excuse to stock up on boots, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.
