I love Mondays. These are my errands/catch up days since the shop is closed. Dexter insist on sitting with me at my desk while I work.

Here's a post from 2 years ago when Dexter was just learning to shake and give high fives. Melts my heart. I love him to pieces.

We've had Dexter for 5 days now!
He's been amazing.

Is having our first dog what we expected?
Yes and no.
I didn't expect him to pee inside after coming in from outside. He's done that twice. Good thing we have wood floors.
I also didn't expect his toots to be so smelly! yuck
I did expect to be patient with him, yelp when he gets too playful and bites us, give him his chew toy when he starts biting furniture, and watch him like a hawk.

Dexter gets us up early (6-7am: early for us sleeepyheads) so he can potty. It's actually a good thing, I forgot how much I love mornings. So quiet, cool, and peaceful.

Despite puppy time I've listed some new mini owls in my shop!

and these babies are new to You're a Dreamboat

Meet Dexter

We have our little Dexter in our lives!

We headed 2 hours south to pick him up yesterday. We were so impressed with him in the car, he never once cried but within 20 minutes he started getting motion sickness. It was the saddest thing ever. He threw up 10 times! Poor little guy. It was dreadful, we had to pull over to give him a break and him and Riley moved to the back seat.

We finally made it home and fed him.

Here he is enjoying his first day:

Last night we put a piano bench by our bed and put the crate on top of it facing us. When we put Dexter in he started crying. I sang the "hush little baby" lullaby and put my fingers through the crate and rubbed his paw and within a minute he fell silent! Riley and I only know the mockingbird and diamond ring verse and after that we make it up, it's pretty fun. I'm glad it soothes Dexter.
He started crying at 3am so we got dressed and took him outside to potty. He woke up again at 5am but I just sang the lullaby sleepingly to him. Once again at 7am and we woke up and took him out and played with him.

Within an hour or so he took a nap in the sunlight. We are delighted he loves his bed

He also likes to lay halfway under the couch

after some play he sleeps some more and cuddles with his planet dog toy

We love our little Dexter!

puppydoodle!

Riley and I are getting a puppy!!
This will be the first for both of us so this will be a little adventure!
We went to see the schnoodle (Schnauzer/poodle mix) puppies yesterday for an hour or so. (We are both allergic to dogs so we had to go for one that is perfect for allergies!)
I won't bore you with details but we first observed them; watched how they responded to each other and loud sounds, then we picked them up, cradled them like babies to see if they would fight it (stubborn) or go with the flow. I put my favorite one down and walked to the side and he followed me, my favorite one wagged his tail really fast when Riley picked him up. He was a charmer. And he was the only one that didn't go to sleep with the others and watched us the whole time.
He will be ready to come home with us next Friday (May 22)!! I can't wait!!!
His name will be Dexter.

(sorry you can't see him clearly! We forgot to bring our camera so we had to rely on our phones)

Any advice on our very first pet? What was getting your first dog like?

*also, Riley and I work from home so we'll have plenty of time for Dexter! Oooh I can't wait!
