Lately

This past weekend we headed to Tulsa for my favorite craft show, Indie Emporium.
It was a blast meeting people who I've only met through email, blogs and instagramming.
It's so crazy how well we know these people we've never met in person! I know some think it's a little creepy, but I personally think it's pretty cool...in a creepy way. Just kidding.
So, of course, in typical Stela fashion I didn't plan my booth till the night before. I hope next year I get my act together and plan ahead.
Now, I'm putting my focus towards our shop event this weekend and making my owls for the shop, Dwelling Spaces!
I hope to return to my blog regularly this week. September was such a blur, I'm not sure what the hell I did that month. October is bound to be better because October is an awesome month full of all my favorite things; including my 1 year wedding anniversary with my love!
Enjoy your day!

well, hello!

Hi friends! I don't know if you noticed but I took an unexpected blog break. I just missed one day, than two, than a week and a half.
I feel so out of touch right now because I haven't read any blogs. I glanced at my reader and I saw that so much has happened with you guys in these almost 2 weeks that I've missed! So I have lots of catching up to do this week.
Here's what I've been up to since I took a blog break:
On September 7th we celebrated our shop's 3 year anniversary
with live music, free food and drinks! It's crazy how time flies.
Last week we had some chilly, rainy, fall-like days in Oklahoma. It was nice to open our shop doors and smell the rain!
This past Saturday we walked a block from our shop to watch the Cherokee Strip Parade in our downtown. We have this parade every September to commemorate Enid's land run history. I probably should have snapped a photo of the horses and longhorns or of the man on the cool old school bike, but instead I took a picture of the emergency vehicles throwing candy because I thought it was hilarious. Do other city parades show off their emergency vehicles, trash trucks and tractors?? And then of course I took a picture of our friend representing the democrats.
After the parade they had some cool stuff going on in our downtown square but we had to leave to open our shop. After a shopper came in with her cotton candy I got really excited and left to go get mine! I love having our shop downtown where they have a lot of awesome events. I love our little city!
I wish there was cotton candy there every weekend.
I got accepted into my favorite craft show I love to do every year (since 2007)! It's Indie Emporium in Tulsa! So I've been doing lots of cutting and making these owl pillows of mine. Every year I say I'm going to plan my booth ahead of time and what not, but every year the night before the show I run around grabbing things that can hold my merchandise. I really hope that doesn't happen again because I usually start having stress dreams where I drive to the show and have nothing in my car. I'm hoping that sharing this problem here will throw my issue out into the universe and help me to actually plan ahead this year! It's next weekend.

I've missed you guys!! Can't wait to catch up on your blogs.

prepping

It's September, which means, beginning of craft show season!!
I started doing shows in 2007 and last year was the first time that I didn't
do any. I took a year break from Stelabird to focus completely on our boutique.
I've missed it terribly. This summer I decided it was time to get back to Stelabird so I applied for one show. I'll be doing a craft show (that was my first ever in 2007!) in Tulsa called Indie Emporium at the end of this month.
I only took a year off but it feels like I'm completely starting over.
When you take a break, the world doesn't take a break with you.
I almost feel like this is my first show again. So, these past few days
I've started prepping for the show and making owl plushies and felt birds.
I need to start brainstorming my displays, because we know how
important those are! I'll share some craft show tips with you next week.
I hope you're having the best Wednesday. Time to get sewing.

It's that time of year again! CRAFT SHOW SEASON! Yay!!
I'll be participating in two this fall
First one being Indie Emporium in Tulsa, Ok on October 9th and 10th. Just 2 WEEKS! AH!

And the second one being The Girlie Show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on November 6th & 7th.

So I've been busy this week making away!

Those are owl snuggly pillows being born!

Indie Emporium weekend

Friday:
So after I blogged on Friday I gathered everything and started loading up my car.

We got to Tulsa around 4pm and started setting up. It took us until 5:30, which I was surprised by. The event started at 7pm and I still had to get ready and have dinner. After set up we went to our friends Cristi and Issac's house of Felix and Jayne to get ready and then headed to dinner around 6 or so. We didn't get our food until 6:40 so I'm sure you can imagine our anxiety. We got to the event at 7:00pm. We ran inside from the parking lot and had to run past the line of people waiting to get in. Nice. I didn't price my items beforehand so I was rushing to price everything. One of the first people to come by my booth was a woman and her grandchild. The little girl picked up an owl buddy and was excited about it. Her grandma replied, "If you had the patience, we can go home and figure that out". I just stared at her. That day finally came. I've heard stories from crafters of people saying "I can make that" around their booths. I know it wasn't a personal attack but it hurt my feelings. So I started my Friday night flustered. Within 30 minutes I was feeling better and enjoying the night. I'm sad to say I didn't get any pictures of Friday at Indie Emporium!!

Saturday:
Riley had to go home Friday after the event since he had to go to Lawrence, Kansas the next day. So taking his spot was my sister, Cristina!

We had lunch and headed to the venue early because I didn't feel like rushing again.
I decided now was the best time to take pictures of the booth!!
There's Cristina conducting business.

Saturday was such a fun day! Cristina was an amazing helper and kept me laughing.

We came across one punk posy's booth and she had these rockin' mustaches on a stick! We became obsessed!
Cristina got into it

Claudia from Claudia's Burning Ink got into it!

The owl snuggly got into it!

Even the ghost!

Tini even got double into it!

It was great to see everyone again and meet new friends!

Renee from GreenerMe Casuals and Amby from The Knit Owl.

Cristi from Felix & Jayne and Issac!

The rockin' artist/photographer/designer Tony Li.

I have two more shows this year in Oklahoma. One in November and one in December! I'll let you know more about it later.
All in all it was a great weekend!
Thank you to those that were able to come to Indie Emporium!

Indie Emporium tonight!

I'm so happy tonight is Indie Emporium. I finally get to sit here and relax and blog for a bit! Yesterday flew by. I spent all day yesterday printing tags, tagging all the merchandise, painting, whining, and sewing up some final products. Sounds like it might take 2 hours tops but I was busy preparing from 10a-1a. Anyways, I'm happy I've got everything together. Remember folks, don't leave everything until last minute. Anyways, I didn't take pictures of anything yesterday so all you get to see right now are pictures of it put away ready to be loaded in my car.

That last tote is filled with the plushies but they are hidden and I was too lazy to get a good shot.
Tulsa is an hour away so we'll be leaving here pretty shortly to set up. Riley is my helper tonight but tomorrow his band, Mayola, is playing at The Bottleneck in Lawrence, Kansas. So if you live there, stop by there tomorrow night! So taking his place on Saturday at Indie Emporium with me is my sister, Cristina!

I plan to give you part 1 of the craft fair on sunday night! So come back than and visit and see how I displayed my products, if I got a flat tire, if I sold anything-stuff like that!

Today I was also featured in a wonderful blog! It made my day!!
You can visit Steppie and her blog here!

Have a great weekend everyone!
I leave you with the stelabird sign Riley made for me!
