ho hum

Hey everyone. I feel like I haven't blogged in forever but it's only been 2 days, ha!
Anyways, the past couple of days Riley and I have been trying to figure out life, moving and all that stuff that causes stress and worry. We don't have the money to move, and that's pretty vital. Plus, I have to start paying my college loans in a couple months. So sadly, the idea of Tulsa was scrapped. And I'm so sad, I was looking forward to hanging out with all the new friends I have made there. And we're not staying in Stillwater. We're going....back to our hometowns. Still typing/saying it kills me. I never thought I would end up back to Enid after college. But there are positive sides to going back to Enid, (a little bigger than Stillwater with a population of 48,000 but less fun businesses). First, Riley is going back to school! Second, FREE RENT! We will be staying in a vacant home that Riley's parents' own, it's in good shape and cute. They are sweet to let us stay there rent free and save our money, I'm very grateful to them. Third, we get to see our parents. We love our parents. I already planned dinner nights with my mom. Fourth, I can still continue to do Stelabird.
I'm trying to replay the positives in my head. Over and over.
But this is all happening so fast, we are moving out the first week of March. 2 weeks! I'm excited to set up a new craft space. I'm not excited about packing.
Oh guys. I'm bummed. (FREE RENT) You see what I mean! I have to keep reminding myself.
I should be very grateful that I have this option, and I am.
So that's the situation that's kept me away.

In other news...

I listed another new owl buddy in my shop the other day!

I really like these guys! They are small, cute & cuddly. I need to make more, that's for sure!

and here are the latest earrings at You're A Dreamboat!

That's all for today!
I have a question for you!
What is your favorite home decor etsy shop?

Have a beautiful day!

  2. Sorry things didn't work out as planned. I'm sure you will make the best of it. And... free rent is always a plus!

  3. Sorry to read about your despair. BUT look at the bright side- the rent money saved can be put toward loans and more supplies and some savings, with which you can eventually use to buy your own house in the location of your choice! We're in NY and looking for less-expensive options around the country, but it is hard to leave family and the Ocean.

I do agree- moving stinks!! The thought of having to pack up a house makes me want to bury myself under the covers.

  4. it is sad when things don't go as planned but looks like you have it under control. i was forced to move back with my parents after college and was able to save so much money. looks like you are getting a sweet deal. plus you're young, you have a lot of time to make that move sometime :)

  5. I moved back to my hometown for a little help from dear ole dad when I was 22. I wasn't real stoked about it but it helped me in a zillion ways. Good luck, don't forget those positives, and it's a stepping stone to something bigger and better for sure. :)

  7. My husband and I are in our hometown as well. We had a similar situation. We got to move into a house that my grandparents owned. At first, we paid rent. Then one day my grandpa just gave us the house. It was in a sort of crappy neighborhood and the house wasn't in very good shape. We lived there about 3 years before we got an offer we could not refuse on a house...(appraised for 90K the man sold it to us for 65K)...we were able to sell the house that was given to us and pay off all of our debt. Now we live in a nicer neighborhood in a nicer house and we are debt free. So you see, sometimes things just work out in your favor....even if it seems like they may not. When we moved into the crappy house, I would have never believed it would end up being the thing that helped us most. I wish you all the luck in the world.

  8. Everything will work out the way it was meant to, it always does. I know that it's stressful to pack up everything you own and start over in a new place. But once you do, it will feel so great to have a brand new (RENT FREE) place to call your own. I wish you guys the best of luck with the move, I know it will all be for the best in the end. Your Tulsa friends will still love you, no matter where you live!!

  9. Sounds like in the end it is a really smart decision and what a gift to be close to your parents, as I get older I appreciate that more and more. :)
I really like this shop for home decor http://wonting.etsy.com, I have a print from them in my eating area, I also like http://littlestflower.etsy.com, just discovered them recently and am thinking about a print.

  10. I think it is a really good thing for you to move back home to the FREE RENT. Seriously! It will be for the best! You just have to keep reminding yourself that not having the rent responsibility will give you more to focus on Stelabird and You're A Dreamboat and become the successful entrepreneur that you want to be!! With the economy the way it is right now... think of your move as a blessing. Not everyone has a place to go like that! :) Good luck packing - that's the worst part!
