Make It // felt owl ornament

It's December and it's time to start decorating our homes with Christmas trees and pretty things! For today's Make It I'm showing you how to make a felt owl ornament. This owl ornament is easy and doesn't take long to make so let's get started!
You will need:
felt (I chose brown for the owl and orange for the beak)
fabric
buttons
ribbon
needle & thread
stuffing
scissors
owl cut out
Create an owl pattern. Mine is 2.75 X 2.75
I folded my cardstock in half to have my pattern even on both sides.
1. Cut out 2 pieces of felt from your pattern for your owl.
2. Time to get your fabric! I chose a holiday plaid. Cut a rectangle with
a rounded top.
3. Place your fabric on your felt where the rounded top is at the center.
Turn over and cut off the excess.
4. Hand stitch your fabric to your felt using coordinating thread.
Time to stitch on the eyes! Grab 2 buttons and some thread!
5. Stitch on your buttons!
6. Cut out and stitch on a little triangle to be the beak and place between the two buttons.
7. Get your black thread amd stitch a line across the beak to create a mouth.
8. Now that the front of your owl is complete let's put on the ribbon!
Place the top of your owl on top and pin it up top to keep the ribbon in place while you stitch your ornament.
9. Time to stitch up your ornament! I just did a regular hand stitch but
you could also do a blanket stitch. Start after the right side of your fabric and stitch all the way to the other side of the fabric leaving an opening so you can add stuffing.
10. Add the stuffing to your ornament.
11. After your ornament is stuffed, sew it up! We're done!
Now all you have left to do is hang it up on your tree!
I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial.

I've included a little holiday playlist of songs that I love to listen to
while I create, decorate and wrap presents!

Happy Making!!

Gloomy Black Friday

*Thank you everyone for the Birthday Wishes!!*
It's cold and gloomy here. Have you done some shopping today or are you staying in away from the crazy crowds?
I'm sure everyone is aware of the tragic incident that occurred at a Wal-Mart in New York early this morning. That makes me so sad, and angry. I can't believe some people.
I tagged along with my sister and mom this early morning. I followed them in a sleepy daze around JcPenny's at 4am. I felt like I was in everyone's way because I was dragging along and everyone around me was moving 100 mph. We stood in line for 20 minutes to pay. When my sister was next in line my mom went out to get the car and by the time she finished paying we ran out and jumped in the car and went to the next location: Wal-Mart. We were going there because we wanted to get one of my mom's presents. We got there at 5am and my sister ran out of the car to go ahead and get the gift while we found a parking. THERE WAS NO PARKING! It was insane!! Cristina finally called saying she was where the electronics were but couldn't find what we wanted. So it was my turn to hop out of the car and go into the dreaded store while my mom looked for parking. I put my game face on and ran inside. It was a mad house in there! On the way to the electronics the aisle was filled with people with carts and no one was moving. I said my friendly "excuse me" and "thank yous" as I squeezed between the carts. I finally saw Cristina, thank god she has colorful hair! And she had the items in her hand!!! I was so proud of her because when I walked by the cameras they had they were all gone. So then we bolted to the registers and we found a self check out that only had 4 people waiting. As we waited, I noticed most of the shoppers looked stressed, tired, and anxious.
We also went to Staples which was packed but we were able to get what my sister wanted. It was a successful Black Friday for her.
I'm doing most of my shopping online. There are a lot of Etsy sellers having sales this weekend! I'm not one of them, but I do give a free item with each purchase!

I leave you with a picture of my owl ornament!! It's time to put up those Christmas trees and decorate!

Tell me about your Black Friday experience!

enid

Today we are in Enid, OK! It's only an hour away from our home in Stillwater. We came here to do various things and one of them included feeding the family dog, Rocko!

He's a loving 1 1/2 year old beagle!

This is him knocking me over! Looks a little dramatic.

And then I got a little camera happy and started taking pictures of the neighbor's dogs! Sweet little guys, their barks sound like a squeaky toys.

We then went to get lunch at Port Lugano, an amazing cafe in Enid. If you ever find yourself in Enid, you MUST go there!
Here's my delicious lunch, pasta salad and tomato basil.

Next was to pick up some things at Riley's parents house but on the way we decided to drive by the High School.

Riley and I both went to school at Enid High but we didn't know each other. We actually met in Stillwater! So now it's super convenient for the Holidays since both our parents live in the same town. And what's funny is our moms knew each other before we did because they work at the same hospital.
We made our way to his parent's and guess what...more doggy pictures!!!!
I'm deprived of doggies so when I'm around any I MUST take pictures! Sorry.
Meet Max!! This is his mom's little guy, he's a 2 yr old puggle (pug & beagle mix).

Max doesn't like drinking out of a bowl of water. He prefers the bath tub.

This is Butler. He barks at everyone. If you get too close he runs outside.

When he feels it's safe, he peeks in through the doggy door. If he sees you he remains outside.

Besides taking pictures of dogs today I listed some ornaments in my shop!

Anyone going back home for the holidays next week? If so, where are you going? Riley and I are heading back to Enid, of course!
