Behind the Scenes

I wanted to share a couple of photos with you today of some behind
the scenes from my latest Make It post.
Dexter is always around when it's time for me to take my blog photos.
He's done this since the beginning and I'm happy I finally took pictures of his silliness.
I'll set up my area for photo taking and he'll come and check out what I'm doing. He'll act all casual and people watch from his little spot in the store window.
After a few minutes of that he'll come to me and sit on my lap when I sit down.
I hate to tell him to move so I make and take photos with him on me until I have to stand up. I can be such a pushover with him sometimes. And I think he knows it.
And here he is again when I was taking pictures for yesterday's post
He'll get in the shot, but when I put the focus on him he'll look the other direction. As you can see in these photos, he won't even look at the camera.
I just want to give him a noogie sometimes.

What silly thing does your pet do?

My Friday Favorite

Throughout the week I find things on the ol' internets that I love, save them and share them on Fridays for my Friday Favorites. Well, that didn't happen this week friends. And then I thought, well I'll just take a look around and see if I love anything enough to share. But that took too long and I got tired of searching the webs and I just wanted to read my book instead of looking for something that caught my eye. (What a cry baby!)
So, here we are.
But I do have a Friday Favorite today. His name is Dexter.
My little 3 year old schnoodle.
His hair is growing back from his super short summer 'do, and his eyebrows are coming back in full force. We like to call them his sarcastic eyebrows.
He looks kinda awkward in this photo because I told him to stay. That word paralyzes dogs! It's so crazy. So, I say stay and he freezes like a statue until I say another word.
I love that little guy. He's my favorite.

What are your favorite things this week?
Have an amazing weekend!

Check out Mr. Summer 'do!
Yes, we actually ask the groomer to do this. It gets so hot here in Oklahoma and when we didn't get his haircut he would not want to go outside, which is sad because he loves the outdoors. So at the beginning of summer he gets his Mr. Cool haircut and runs around like a crazy dog. He looks like a totally different dog. No one believes he's a schnoodle when we go to the dog park.
His fro will be back in a couple of months! (I do miss it terribly)

As you can see, it is Monday and I do not have a Make It today. Sad face.
I take my make it photos and write it up on Sundays and yesterday I didn't get a chance to do any of that. We were playing catch up on life. Or at least cleaning up the house, buying groceries, paying bills. That stuff. And honestly, I didn't know what to make and share. I have a few ideas but I need to make them beforehand to see how it goes! Ha. Any suggestions? Is there something you want to learn how to make? Please let me know!

I hope you guys have a great Monday!

Dexter is 3!

Today is our little Dexter's 3rd birthday!
He's been the most amazing dog and I can't imagine life without him.

You can read about when we first decided to get a dog HERE!

Happy Birthday to my little dog!

our little jump dog

If you were to ask our dog Dexter what his favorite activity was, he would say playing fetch. Since we don't have a back yard you can find us at our city's dog park throwing the ball for him on a daily basis. He loves to jump for the ball whenever it is airborne, hence all the jumping shots.
I love this little guy to pieces! Dexter hopes you're having a great day!

at the shop...(with dexter)

Dexter loves to lie in the poly-fil, that we call snow, in our store window display.
It's pretty cute. I love seeing people from outside notice him and start pointing and smiling.
When he's not in the store window snow he is behind the counter in his cozy bed...wearing his santa outfit. Okay, not really. Just for this photo. Can you see how not happy and shocked he is about wearing it!

dexter is quite fetching

Every morning before work we take Dexter to the dog park to run and play. His favorite thing to do is play fetch. Here he is in action:
The other dog running with him is boomer. He's also there every morning and loves chasing after Dexter.
I hope you had a lovely Tuesday!

little helper

I've been busy this week getting ready for a craft show that is taking place this Friday and Saturday. I couldn't have done it without my little helper.
Dexter likes to sit under my chair when I sew. I'm so happy he does this
because back in 2008 when I was doing my internship in Tulsa, OK I had
my bff's family's poodle as my little helper!
Any time I lay something on the floor Dexter has to be on it. I turn around
for one second and there he is getting comfy. Today we laid out my table
cloth to see how big it was and Dexter runs into the room to sit on it.
I'm not sure why I was surprised.
I love this little guy to pieces!

Make it // felt leaf garland

It's starting to feel like fall here in Oklahoma! Sunday
was 74 degrees (after Saturdays triple digits) and it was
amazing. On Sunday I had a taste of fall and that was magical.
Now that I'm feeling all fall-y we're gearing up to put the
store in fall mode and that means new window displays, merchandise
and rearranging the shop. One of the things that we make sure to use is our felt leaf garland. You can learn how to make it over
at this lovely blog
Anytime I put something on the floor Dexter has to lie on it.
(part of our shop window last year)

Happy Making!

A small taste of how much little dog hates photo booth.

I love Mondays. These are my errands/catch up days since the shop is closed. Dexter insist on sitting with me at my desk while I work.

Here's a post from 2 years ago when Dexter was just learning to shake and give high fives. Melts my heart. I love him to pieces.

(mini) life Update!

I haven't blogged over here in a couple of months so I thought I would do a mini life update to get this one caught up on what I've been up to and then continue to blog regularly over here. Here we go...

My awesome job

Riley and I's store The Felt Bird has almost been open 2 years. Not to sound cliche but I feel like we just opened yesterday! Time flies.
We're having our 2nd Annual Mustache Bash this Friday.
You should LIKE us on facebook!

I play keys in a band called Outdoors. It consist of my fiance Riley and our friends Katy and Madden.

Craft

I've been making my owl snugglies again and listing them in my etsy shop! It feels good to get back into it. I had a hard time doing anything other than the store when we opened it in 2009 but I'm finally putting a foot down and making time and energy for other things.

Oh my baby dog. I love this little man to pieces. He's now 2 and awesome.

Riley & Me

We got engaged last year on March 3rd. We couldn't figure out what we wanted to do: have a wedding, elope? I think I've seen too many lame wedding movies and shows that I roll my eyes with the thought of planning/having one. But Riley brought it to my attention that it doesn't have to be like that. Now why didn't I think of that. Geez.
So we're having a small wedding. Full of DIY, handmade, riley and stela goodness.

I kinda suck at wedding planning. But we do have the date (in October) and we have the location!
Adventure Quest!

Adventure Quest is an outdoor science playground. It's the world’s largest community built outdoor playground! It's a huge wood castle! It's awesome. It's also 2 blocks north of our store; we can see it from our back door.

Here is an areal view of Adventure Quest. In the far left side of the picture where you see grass, that's their garden where our ceremony will be taking place. I love that people will have to walk through the wood castle to get back there.

I think I've covered it all.
Hope you guys are having a great Memorial Day weekend.

Dexter at the dog park!

Saturday, December 5, 2009

I can't believe I haven't updated in 2 months!

I have really neglected Stelabird; and it's a shame. I only did two craft shows this holiday season, I rarely update my etsy and I haven't been giving to the local stores I sell at. I make stelabird stuff and put them in our store, The Felt Bird, and I never get caught up.

Riley & I spend all our time and effort into The Felt Bird and it's been great!

We have so many big plans for the store. I can't speak of them because I'll jinx it! That always happens to me; so I best keep it to myself.

*We blog often for Felt Bird; you can view it HERE

Here's what we've been up to the past couple of months...

Riley started dabbling in screen printing. We have a little collection of his animal shirts that he's created.

When he's not doing that he's making things around the store. He recently made our sign behind the counter. He got letters from an art&supply store and covered them with felt and placed them on plywood.

Once the holiday season is over he plans to record again.

I recently turned 25

I started watching Mad Men; which is amazing. The only problem is that I want to drink wine every time I see an episode.

Dexter is now 9 months

And he loves wearing sweaters!
We got him his first sweater because we were going to have a tacky sweater party and we wanted him to wear one. When we put it on him he gained all this confidence; it was hilarious! He just seems happier with one on so we had to get more.

His nicknames are poo poo doo doos (for poodle/dexter+poodle, not because he poos every where), sweater & doodlebear.
Dexter comes to work with us everyday.

He's a little shy when meeting new customers. They will try and pet him and he will slowly walk backwards.
Dexter is jealous. When we pet other dogs in front of him Dexter will get in their way to get to us or jump on our laps.
He sleeps on all the rugs at the store and loves to sunbathe.

and He's a super jumper

He's been amazing.

That's what we've been up to!
