Song on Repeat // Mourning Doves

The song on repeat today is a song by my husband, Riley Jantzen!
The song is called Mourning Doves and it's my absolute favorite song to date!
He wrote this song when we returned home from getting our mourning dove feather tattoos. This is also the song he sang for me at our wedding
Our wedding rings were made by Someplace Elsewhere and we had her engrave inside our rings one of the lyrics to the Mourning Dove song: we are all I need.
Please have a listen and enjoy!

If you'd like to hear Riley's new album Feathers in its entirety, click HERE!
You'll soon be able to find it on iTunes, Spotify and many other music websites.

Saturday we took a trip to Riley's Dad's farm for some fishing!
I failed to take pictures of anything that wasn't joe the dog or kitty the barn cat. Oops

Oh and most importantly, I was the only one that caught a fish! Woot woot!

Meet Dexter

We have our little Dexter in our lives!

We headed 2 hours south to pick him up yesterday. We were so impressed with him in the car, he never once cried but within 20 minutes he started getting motion sickness. It was the saddest thing ever. He threw up 10 times! Poor little guy. It was dreadful, we had to pull over to give him a break and him and Riley moved to the back seat.

We finally made it home and fed him.

Here he is enjoying his first day:

Last night we put a piano bench by our bed and put the crate on top of it facing us. When we put Dexter in he started crying. I sang the "hush little baby" lullaby and put my fingers through the crate and rubbed his paw and within a minute he fell silent! Riley and I only know the mockingbird and diamond ring verse and after that we make it up, it's pretty fun. I'm glad it soothes Dexter.
He started crying at 3am so we got dressed and took him outside to potty. He woke up again at 5am but I just sang the lullaby sleepingly to him. Once again at 7am and we woke up and took him out and played with him.

Within an hour or so he took a nap in the sunlight. We are delighted he loves his bed

He also likes to lay halfway under the couch

after some play he sleeps some more and cuddles with his planet dog toy

We love our little Dexter!

Happy May!!

Hello friends!
Happy First of May! I have a feeling the month of May will be a good one.
It's cloudy, rainy and in the low 50s here in Enid, OK but it made my coffee that much more lovely.
I will be listing a Little Bigfoot in my shop today!

as well as a mini owl!

Have you heard of Okeene, Oklahoma? Your answer is probably no.
Well, our Riley Jantzen was born and raised in this little town of 1,200.
That's correct, population of 1,200.
Well, this weekend in Okeene, OK is the RATTLESNAKE ROUNDUP!
I have not had the honor in attending this event, and I'm not too sure I want to. Snakes freak me out.
Riley says the rattlesnake hunt started long ago when there were too many rattlesnakes in the area so they had a bunch of people wrangle them up. Eventually, it turned into an annual event.
I asked if people have gotten bitten during the roundup, his answer "oh yea"
has anyone died? Riley: yea
They host the event 1 block from the hospital. Good idea.
Here's Riley sporting his 2004 rattlesnake roundup shirt

I hope you notice what's wrong with this picture.

Starting tonight Riley and I will have a doggie!!! For a few days.
But hey, I'm super happy to have a precious doggie in my life for a little bit!
Here's who I'm doggie-sitting! I love Andy!
I want to cry I'm so excited!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I'm a fan

Meet Mr. Jantzen

Ok, so I don't have to introduce you to my lovely boyfriend Riley, he makes regular appearances on my blog.
But in case you weren't aware, my mr. jantzen is a music man. Give him any instrument, he'll play it. And at the moment, music is his sole job.
He's in a band called Mayola, named after his grandma, that is experimental rock. Mayola has been kicking for 4 years now.

And then he has his solo music, the softer side of Riley, that is folk rock.
Which one do I like better? I can't say, I love them both!!

The point of this post is that Mayola has released a new song! Riley was hard at work these past couple of days finishing up the recordings to have online for everyone to enjoy. The song is called, Bad Man, and it's one of my favorite Mayola songs.
Riley is the vocals in the band, so you can hear his adorable voice.
Click HERE to listen to BAD MAN by Mayola.

Here's a video from their latest performance at the Norman Music Festival that took place Saturday. *I'd like to mention Riley sporting gear from ETSY! He has the Lino Guitar Strap from Moxie & Oliver and the village shirt from TIMBER!

Also, TONIGHT you can catch Mayola in Tulsa opening for Matt Costa!

keeping it real

Hi friends!! I've missed you!
I know it's only been 3 days but if I don't blog every other day I feel lost!

These past couple of days have been busy. Not only am I preparing for Funky Finds Spring Fling show in Texas but Riley and I have also been occupied with our thoughts on the future and careers. I don't want to get any more specific than that because I hate to say things and then they don't unfold the way I want. So, I'll keep my mouth closed and hope that later this year I can share with you.

Remember the body form I had that ripped in half during our move?

Well, Riley's Grandpa fixed her for me!!! She's now back in my possession and better than ever! Yay! Go grandpa!

Also the other day I've been working on a new product.
You know how bright it is when there's snow on the ground and the sun is shining? Well, working with white paper in the sunlight does the same thing (of course).
I was making a pattern and it was so unbearable that I had to be a loser and wear my sunglasses inside!

And here's an idea on what I'm working on...but think BIGGER

this is what happens when I'm home alone, I take ridiculous pictures of myself and share with you.

Also this week I got a bag of ribbon & beads from a friend!!

Super pumped about that!!

On today's agenda I'm finishing up the felt donuts

and going to Tulsa tonight for Riley's show at Soundpony!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!
